Created with a feeding specialist, all Baby Einstein® Mealtime Products by Playtex® are ergonomically designed to help ease your child’s transition to solid food.

As your baby approaches 8-10 months, he begins to seek independence, but he can’t self-feed to meet his nutritional needs by himself. To promote that move toward independence and to ensure that he receives adequate nutrition, we designed a set of infant spoons for the two of you to use together.

Baby’s Spoon: Designed with a narrow bowl for his small mouth and a short handle for him to use on his own.
Parent’s Spoon: Designed with the same narrow bowl for his mouth, but with a longer handle to reach a baby's mouth comfortably from the other side of the highchair tray.

Transitioning from smooth to textured food items is not an easy task for most babies. We’ve added a texture to the bowl of the spoon to help ease the transition. This added texture, while your baby is still eating smooth food items, builds a tolerance for the textured food items he will begin to eat.

Toddlers are typically self-feeders who quickly become adept with using utensils. They are continuing to develop refined oral motor skills for feeding. Our toddler utensils were designed with this in mind. The spoon has a large but shallow bowl to promote an adequate bite size, as toddlers typically have poor pacing skills and tend to overstuff their mouth. The shape of the fork tines allows your toddler to easily pick up food and self feed.

Toddlers occasionally struggle to retrieve food from bowls with their utensils, often resorting to using their fingers instead. We designed our Baby Einstein® bowl and plate with steep rounded sides to aid the toddler in scooping. As the toddler lifts the spoon along the side of the bowl or plate, the height and angle of the side increases the chance that food will fall onto the spoon rather than over the side.
