The Problem with Air
Tiny babies have tiny tummies. As your baby ingests air, there is less room for milk, and she’ll likely feel a false sense of fullness. The added air in the stomach also acts like a pneumatic pump. When the stomach contracts, it causes spitting up. Your baby may begin to associate eating with discomfort. By not enjoying eating, she may not get enough nutrition. This can lead to a condition called "failure to thrive." Thus, minimizing the swallowing of air is important and leads to healthier, happier babies.
How Traditional Bottles Work
Bottles require a way to prevent a vacuum from forming in the bottle. When a vacuum builds, it acts as resistance, making it harder and harder for your baby to continue to feed. If the vacuum becomes strong enough, it can cause the bottle nipple to collapse, stopping the flow of milk and causing an interruption in the feeding rhythm.
Traditional bottles prevent the vacuum from forming through a vent in the bottle nipple. As your baby feeds, air is introduced into the bottle at the nipple. This air mixes with the milk causing your baby to ingest air during feeding. See how our two bottle systems work:

Designed by dentists to allow for proper oral development
There is a natural gap of 1–2 mm between our upper and lower teeth. In its natural position, the tongue lies in the lower jaw and extends toward the front teeth but doesn’t exert pressure on teeth and gums. The Ortho-Pro pacifier was developed with this in mind.
