The Playtex® Drop-Ins™ System is a closed system. That is, there is no need for a vent. The Drop-Ins™ pre-formed liner contracts as the baby feeds, preventing a vacuum from forming in the bottle. So no air mixes with the milk, and your baby doesn’t ingest air.
Because the liner contracts, your baby can also feed in an upright/semi-upright position, which is recommended by pediatricians to help reduce ear infections.
See the results of clinical studies that show how the Drop-Ins™ System reduces gas and colic.

Clinical Studies Support the Playtex® Drop-Ins™ System
According to a recent scientific study, the Playtex® Drop-Ins™ System mimics the natural swallowing and breathing patterns seen during breastfeeding, which makes for efficient and healthy milk expression*.
The Study Showed:
- Breastfed infants have a well-coordinated feeding pattern of sucking, breathing and swallowing.
- Testing of a leading hard-walled bottle showed a significantly different feeding pattern as compared to breastfeeding, which could lead to more gas and tummy upset.
- The Drop-Ins™ System mimicked the feeding and breathing pattern of breastfeeding. This means baby gets a natural, healthy feed, making it easy to alternate between breastfeeding and bottle feeding, and helping to reduce gas.

Study Confirms Moms of Colicky Babies Prefer the Playtex® Drop-Ins™ System
Clinical Colic Study Health Care Testing, Inc. Summer 2006 Data on File
Mothers with infants 0 – 6 weeks old that had characteristics of colic participated in a clinical study that compared the Drop-Ins™ System to three competitive leading bottle brands. The study confirmed the efficacy of the Drop-Ins™ System in reducing indications of colic. The moms surveyed preferred the Drop-Ins™ System overall (82% to 7% for the competition) and on nearly all measures included in the study:
