Odor is transmitted via oxygen and moisture molecules.
How other systems combat odor:
Single layer films – like regular garbage bags –act as a barrier to prevent odor transmission due to either oxygen or moisture, but are not effective on both.
The activated carbon used in some systems absorbs odor transmitted through oxygen and moisture. However, carbon has a saturation point at which it stops working. In addition, the absorption rate is dependent on the amount of odors produced, so the rate may not be able to keep up with particularly smelly diapers.
